Job Description: Human Capital Executive (Tokyo)
We are seeking a Human Capital Executive to join a small, high-performing HR team in Tokyo. This is a broad, hands-on generalist role supporting the full employee lifecycle, with a particular focus on junior to mid-level employees.
Given the lean team structure, this role offers significant ownership and exposure across HR operations, employee relations, and recruitment within an international environment.
Key Responsibilities
■ HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes from an employee experience perspective
- Coordinate probation reviews, internal transfers, and exits
- Support preparation and administration of employment contracts and related documentation
- Act as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, procedures, and benefits
- Handle routine employee relations matters for junior to mid-level staff
- Escalate complex issues appropriately and support resolution
- Lead recruitment activities for junior to mid-level positions (VP level and below)
- Partner with internal stakeholders to support hiring needs
- Ensure HR practices are aligned with Japanese labor laws and internal policies
- Support internal audits and policy updates
- Contribute to Human Capital initiatives and process improvements
- Support ad hoc HR projects as required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- 5–10 years of experience in a Human Capital / HR role
- Strong understanding of HR operations and employee lifecycle management
- Japanese: Native or business-fluent (written and spoken)
- English: Business-fluent (written and spoken)
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Sound judgment and problem-solving capability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); HR systems experience is a plus
- Experience working in an international or bilingual corporate environment
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with global teams
- Calm, flexible, and solutions-oriented mindset
