A global company operating innovation communities and flexible workspaces is seeking an Accounting Manager to strengthen its finance and accounting function in Japan. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing accounting operations across multiple Japan entities, managing a small accounting team, and supporting the development of scalable finance processes as the business continues to expand in Japan and across Asia. The role reports directly to the Finance Director Japan and offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, international, and highly collaborative environment where accounting is viewed as a strategic function supporting business growth. Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle accounting operations, including AP, AR, GL, fixed assets, and accruals
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
• Manage and develop a small accounting team
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Handle multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions
• Ensure accurate revenue and cost recognition
• Drive process improvements and optimize ERP usage
• Support audit, tax, and compliance requirements
• Monitor cash flow and improve working capital management
• Work closely with the Finance Director and global finance teams
• Support regional expansion and shared service initiatives

Requirements

• 10+ years of accounting experience in Japan
• 3–5 years of team management experience, ideally managing a small team
• Strong knowledge of JGAAP
• Business-level English and native-level Japanese
• ERP experience; NetSuite experience is preferred
• Strong attention to detail, ownership, and organizational skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment

Nice to Have

• Experience overseeing accounting for multiple entities
• Experience working in a global or international company
• Process improvement or system implementation experience
• JCPA, USCPA, or equivalent qualification
• Knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP
